AYRSHIRE STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Capacity field for County championship at Prestwick St. Nicholas

A Capacity field will contest the 2022 Ayrshire Strokeplay Championship over the Prestwick St Nicholas GC links on Sunday the 24th of April.

The 36 hole competition has attracted a quality field of the majority of the best golfers in the county.

The players returning the best 16 scratch aggregate scores will go forward to contest the Ayrshire Matchplay Championship at Ayr Belleisle between the 2nd and 5th of May.

HILLHOUSE CUP - Entries now being taken for Doc Thom Ayrshire Order of Merit event.

Entries are now being taken for the 2022 Hilllhouse Cup, to be played at Royal Troon on Sunday the 15th of May.

A Doc Thom Ayrshire Order of Merit counting event, entry is open to players with a handicap of 5 or less who are members of recognised golf clubs in Ayrshire.

The entry fee is £25 and entries close on the 9th of May.

AYRSHIRE MEN'S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY - Four more through to round 2

Four more players have recently booked their place in round 2 of the 2022 Ayrshire Men's Champion of Champions Trophy competition.

Steven Stamper (Turnberry) was the only home winner in the four ties, beating Eddie Gilmour (Braehead) by 5&4 to secure a home tie in round 2 against either David Paterson (Redburn) or Stuart Miller (Kilmarnock Barassie).

Away wins were recorded by Rory Acheson (Routenburn), by 1 hole over Steven Tait (Crosshouse), and Mark McLelland (Girvan), by 3 & 2 over Robert Long (The Chase), and the pair now meet in round 2 at Routenburn.

The other tie completed recently saw an away win for Tom  Mitchell (Shiskine), by 4 & 3 against Thomas Freer (Alton), who is now at home in round 2 against either Adam Sweeney (Prestwick St Cuthbert) or George Paton (Troon Merchants).

The remaining seven first round ties are due to be completed by Sunday the 17th of April.
