In two recent ties, Redburn boosted their own title hopes with a 3.5-2.5 home win over Troon Welbeck, who subsequently bounced back from the defeat with a 5-1 home win over Golf South Ayrshire in their latest fixture.

In SECTION A of THE AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, irvine had the chance to secure a final place with a win in their last fixture away to Prestwick St Nicholas, but a 4.5-1.5 defeat dashed their hopes and Turnberry took the place in the final from Section A.

Kilmarnock Barassie finished their campaign with a 5-1 home win over Ballochmyle. East Ayrshire played their final two home matches, recording a 6-0 win over Ballochmyle and losing 4-2 to West Kilbride, while prestwick St Cuthbert concluded with a 4-2 away win at Ballochmyle and a 4.5-1.5 defeat at home to West Kilbride.

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT competition, Ayr Bellesile will host Irvine in the first semi final with Troion Welbeck at home to Turnberry in the other semi final tie.
In the WALLACE THORNTON TROPHY competition semi-finals, Troon Welbeck host West Kilbride and Kilmarnock Barassie are at home to Turnberry.
The semi finals of the AYRSHIRE JUNIOR CHAPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition sees Euan Forrest (West Kilbride) at home to Gregor Hay (Turnberry) and Findlay Andrew (Ayrshire Boys Strokeplay Champion) host Harris Vennard (Ayr Belleisle) for a place in the competition final.
All four AJGL finals are due to be played at Loudoun in August.
The championship will be held over 18 holes, with prizes and trophies being awarded on both a scratch and handicap basis.
The championship is open to any girl, under the age of 18 on the 1st of January 2026, who is a member of any of the 67 Ayrshire Golf Association member clubs. The handicap index limit for the competition is 36.0.
The entry fee for the competition is £10.

Loudoun presently lead section 2, with just one crucial fixture to be played, where Ballochmyle host Caprington on the 31st of July, in a fixture that will decide who will join Loudoun in the semi finals.

In their home quarter final match against Kilbirnie Place the Kilmarnock Barassie team ran out winners by 3-0 to progress to the last four where they will be at home to either Ayr Belleisle or Royal Troon.

Troon St Meddans had a 6-0 away win against Rowallan castle but in two fixtures agaist Troon Portland the St Meddans team were defeated 3.5-2.5 over the Portland courtse and lost their home fixture by 4.5-1.5.

Jim McIntyre (Redburn) had a single hole victory on his visit to play Scott Brown (Prestwick St Cuthbert) and will play Lewis Higgins ((Ardeer) in the semi finals after his home victory by the same score over Jamie Hay (Ayr Belleisle).
Gary Jordan (Annanhill) will play David Currie (Royal Troon) in the other semi final after David overcame Alan McLean (Largs) at tthe first extra hole in their quarter final clash at Royal Troon.
The two semi final matches are scheduled to be played at Royal Troon on Friday the 7th of August, with the final taking place at the same venue on Friday the 14th of August.
Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) won his home tie against Gordon Cree (Troon St Meddans) and will be at home to Alan Kelly (West Kilbride) in the semi finals, while Craig Robertson (Turnberry) overcame Steven Johnston (Abbotsford) in his home quarter final tie, to set up a home tie in the semi final against Tom Loy (Irvine).

Two rounds of 67 for a 12 under par total 134 saw Hannah four shots clear of her nearest rival after the 36 holes strokeplay qualifying.
With the championship qualifying score falling at 154, Hannah was the only Ayrshire qualifier in the sixteen players who progressed to the championship matchplay stages.

The only first round casulty was Finlay Watt (West Kilbride) who was unfortunate to lose to Oliver Henderson (Bathgate) at the 21st, the third extra hole.
The second round, played on Friday afternoon, saw the exit of Jenson Fergusson who lost to William Bavidge (Murcar Links) by 3&1, Gregor Hay who lost to Alexander Yuill (Gullane) by 4&3, and Mason Chisholm who lost to Ellis Tate (West Links) by 2&1.
Harris Vennard beat Jimmy Middleton (Bonnyton) by 1 hole to secure his place in the last sixteen, and was joined by Archie Baker who beat Hamish Carnegie (Gullane) by 2&1.
In the round of 16 on Saturday morning, Harris Vennard tees off at 0820 against Eddie Jackson (Turnhouse) while Archie baker starts at 0900 against Alexander Yuill (Gullane).
There are two rounds of matchplay on saturday, with the semi finals and final due to be played on Sunday.
Jenson Fergusson (Royal Troon) lead the Ayrshire challenge, qualifying in second spot following a second round of 66 for a five under par total of 135, just three shots adrift of the top qualifier, Fraser Brown (Nairn).
Harris Vennard (Ayr Belleisle) and Archie Baker (Prestwick St Nicholas) qualified in equal eleventh place on 142, two over par, after rounds of 71-71, and 69-73 respectively.
Gregor Hay (Ayr Belleisle) added a second round of 76 to his opening 69 for a five over par total of 145 and a joint twenty fourth qualifying place.
Mason Chisholm (Irvine) recovered from an opening 76 to post a second round 71 for a seven over par score of 147 and an equal thirty fifth place in qualifying.
The last Ayrshire player to qualify for the matchplay stages was Finlay Watt (West Kilbride) who fought back from an opening score of 78 to post a 72 in the second round and a ten over par total of 150, for an equal fifty third spot in qualifying.
The qualifying score fell at 152, twelve over par, with three players from five on that score filling the last of the sixty four matchplay places.
James McNeillie (West Kilbride), who had an opening round of 80, recorded a second round of 73 for a thirteen over par total of 153 to agonisingly miss the qualification mark by a single shot.

There were several notable performances in the opening round of the 2026 Scottish Boys Championship on Wednesday the 15th of July at Fraserburgh.
The lead in the first round of the two round strokeplay qualifying stage was shared by Alexander Yuill (Gullane) and Fraser Brown (Nairn) with a three under par score of 67.
Three Ayrshire players were well placed in equal fourth place after returning scores of 69, one under par.
Jenson Fergusson (Royal Troon) staged a remarkable comeback from a poor start, being four over par after three holes. In the remaining fourteen holes Jenson had a single further bogey at the twelfth hole, but had six birdies in the other thirteen holes played to give him a great chance for a high finish after round two.
Jenson was joined on one under par by Archie Baker (Prestwick St Nicholas) who had four bogeys, three birdies, and an eagle at the fifteenth hole in his round, and Gregor Hay (Ayr Belleisle) who was three under par after four holes on his way to a one under par total for the round.
The next best placed Ayrshire player was Harris Vennard (Ayr Belleisle) in joint thirteenth place after a one over par round of 71.

In his quarter final tie at home to Andy Marshall (Prestwick St Nicholas) Alan won through by 2&1 and now faces a tript to play either Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) or Gordon Cree (Troon St Meddans) in the semi finals.
The two outstanding quarter final ties are due to be completed by the 22nd of July, with Tom Loy (Irvine) waiting to find out whether he will travel to play either Craig Robertson (Turnberry) or Steven Johnston (Abbotsford) in the semi finals.
Ayrshire concluded their 2026 Scottish Men's Area Team Championship qualifying section matches on Sunday the 12th of July with a victory over Glasgow at Ayr Seafield golf course.
Despite both teams looking for their first win of the campaign, and neither having the chance to qualify for the finals weekend in September, both area associations fielded strong teams for the fixture, which was played in warm and sunny conditions.
The Ayrshire team was Calum Nairn (Prestwick St Cuthbert), Harvey Broadfoot (Royal Troon), Cameron Aitken (Largs), Matt Allen (Western Gailes), Alan McLean (Largs),l and Steven Stamper (Turnberry).
In the morning foursomes Calum and Harvey got the home side off to a great start with a 6&4 win over Steven Rettie and Dan Forbes, and Ayrshire were soon 2-0 ahead when Cameron and Matt edged out Greg Brown and Blair Dalgleish by 3&2.
In the last foursomes tie Alan and Steven were all square against Neil McCrae and Gordon Sangster playing the last but unfortunately went down by one hole to leave the match score 2-1 in Ayrshire's favour after the morning foursomes.
Harvey Broadfoot led the way for Ayrshire in the afternoon singles in a very tight match againast Dan Forbes, eventually winning the final hole for a single hole victory.
In the second tie Calum Nairn was three up after twelve holes and despite covering the remaining holes in one under par he lost out by a single hole to Neil ,McCrae who covered the last six holes in six under par figures, which included successive twos, a birdie and an eagle, at the fifteenth and sixteenth.
Matt Allen was up against Blair Dalgleish in the singles and held a two hole lead at the fifteenth before Blair fought back, winning the fifteenth and sixteenth to square the match. Despite this, Matt showed his fighting spirit, taking the final two holes for a two hole victory in his tie.
With Cameron Aitken one up against Greg Brown playing the last, a half point from the other two ties on the course was required for an overall Ayrshire victory. Cameron lost the final hole to half his tie with Greg Brown and it left Steven Stamper in the anchor tie against Gordon Sangster to secure the overall victory when he won the sixteenth hole for a 3&2 victory.
In the last tie on the course, Alan Mclean fell three behind on several occasions against Steven Rettie but a strong finish saw Alan win successive holes from the fifteenth to square the match playing the last, and was unlucky not to fully complete a remarkable comeback when he saw his putt for victory on the final hol stop agonisingly on the right edge of the hole. Alan's ultimate half match gave Ayrshire a 4-2 victory in the singles and a 6-3 winning margin in the overall match.

In the other match in the section at Easter Moffat, the hosts from Lanarkshire took a 2-1 lead from the morning foursomes into the afternooin singles, but it was the Lothians team that prevailed in the afternooin, taking the single 5-1 for an overall 6-3 match score in their favour to secure their place in the finals weekend at Largs in September.
In the AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, Irvine moved level on points with Turnberry at the top of the table after a 4-2 home win over Prestwick St Nicholas recently, and need at least a draw in the final fixture of the section, away to Prestwick St Nicholas, if they are to progress to the final.
