THE AYRSHIRE JUG - Final call for entries to 2025 mixed greensomes knockout competition

Entries for the 2025 Ayrshire mixed greensomes knockout competition for The Ayrshire Jug close on Friday the 28th of February, so time is short to secure your place in the competition this year.

 The event is open to mixed pairings of members of Ayrshire Golf Association member clubs. The
members of the pairing do not need to be members of the same club.

Entry is £10 per pair and entry forms should be available through club secretaries, or can be downloaded via the link below.

AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION YEARBOOK - 22nd annual yearbook for 2025 launched at annual dinner

Attendees at the 2025 Ayrshire Golf Association Annual Dinner on Friday the 21st of February got first sight of the 22nd annual Ayrshire Golf Association Yearbook, which was launched at the event.

The 40 page yearbook gives details of the activities of The Association, a directory of member clubs, a message from the Association president as wekmk as a review of the 2024 competitions, historical records and a fixture list for the forthcoming 2025 season.

produced once again by Ayrshire Media Services in Troon, the yearbook is now available to view on electronic format via the link on the left of this page, which is also available above, and in the next few week copies of the booklet will be distributed to Ayrshire Golf Association member clubs.

AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION ANNUAL DINNER - 2024 winners honoured as Gordon Sherry returns home to entertain the company

The 2025 Ayrshire Golf Association Annual Dinner and presentation of Trophies was held at The carlton Hotel, Prestwick on Friday the 21st of february, where the winners of the various competitions in 2024 were honoured and Ayrshire's own Gordon Sherry returned to his home county to entertain the company as guest speaker.

 Chaired by Ayrshire Golf  Association President Andrew Gilligan, the evening commenced with an excellent meal and at its conclusion an interval was followed by a prize draw organised by The Association in aid of  the partner charity Ayrshire Cancer Support, which raised in excess of £1,000.

The evening continued with some enthralling stories of his golfing experience from his early years in
Ayrshire through to his participation in The Open and US Masters presented by the guest speaker, professional golfer and former Amateur Champion Gordon Sherry, all 6 foot 9 inches of him, whose very amusing presentation with references and  engagements with two US Presidents, kept the assembled company well entertained throughout. Gordon's contribution concluded with a toast to The Ayrshire Golf Association, which was met with heartfelt applause in appreciation of his contriburtion to the enjoyment and success of the evening.

The presentation of prizes followed, beginning with awards to honour the Ayrshire players who had gained international honours during 2024, These included Freya Russell from Royal Troon who represented Scotland at girl's and women's levels and was the winner of the Scottish Girls' Order of Merit, and the Royal Troon duo of Robert jenkins and paul Moultrie who both represent Scotland at senior men's level, with Paul Moultrie also winning the Senior Men's Order of Merit for the first time in 2024.

Ayrshire enjoyed several team successes in 2024, including winning The President's Trophy in the annual fixture with the South of Scotland, while the West of Scotland Inter County Under 18 Boys and Youths teams were also present to be honoured for their wins in these two competitions in 2024.

National success was also honoured with several of the winning team in the Scottish Senior Men's Area Team Championship team being present to accept the trophy.

The winners of all the Ayrshire Golf Association competition during 2024 were also presented with their trophies before the evening culminated in a vote of thanks given by Ayrshire Golf Association Vice President Barry o'Rourke.

The evening also saw the launch of the 2025 Ayrshire Golf Association yearbook, which will be available to view on line soon, and will be distributed in booklet form to member clubs in the coming weeks.

AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION DINNER AND PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES - Application for tickets close soon

The final date for applying for tickets for the 2025 Ayrshire Golf Association Annual Dinner & Presentation of Trophies is just five days away.

Ticket sales close on Monday the 17th of February at 12 noon.

The 2025 event takes place on Friday the 21st of February at the Carlton Hotel, Prestwick, with tickets priced at £30 per person.

Guest speaker for the evening is former Amateur Champion and walker Cup player Gordon Sherry, who hails from Ayrshire.

The event is open to any member of an Ayrshire Golf Association member club to attend.

to confirm your ticket order and arrange payment.

Entries are still being taken for the 2025 Ayrshire Golf Association Mixed Greensomes Knockout Competition, for The Ayrshire Jug.

The competition, played on a handicap basis, is open to mixed pairings of any members of Ayrshire Golf Association member clubs.

The two players need not be members of the same club and there is no restriction on the number of players from any single club taking part.

Entry will be open to the firs 64 entries received, and entry is £10 per pair.
