Harris Vennard (Ayr Belleisle) and Archie Baker (Prestwick St Nicholas) carry Ayrshire hopes into the last sixteen of the Scottish Boys' Championship on Saturday the 18th of July, after the first two rounds of matchplay were completed on Friday the 17th July at Fraserburgh GC.

Of the six Ayrshire players that secured places in the matchplay stages, five managed to negotiate the first round on Friday morning.
Harris Vennard (Ayr Belleisle) beat Sebastian Harvey (West Links) by 1 hole
Jenson Fergusson (Royal Troon) beat Harry Riley (Downfield) by 2 holes
Gregor Hay (Ayr Belleisle) beat Jamie McDonald (St Andrews New) by 4&3
Archie Baker (Prestwick St Nicholas) beat Archie Cargill (Arbroath Artisan) by 5&4
and
Cameron Russell (Crieff) lost to Mason Chisholm (Irvine) by 3&2
The only first round casulty was Finlay Watt (West Kilbride) who was unfortunate to lose to Oliver Henderson (Bathgate) at the 21st, the third extra hole.
The second round, played on Friday afternoon, saw the exit of Jenson Fergusson who lost to William Bavidge (Murcar Links) by 3&1, Gregor Hay who lost to Alexander Yuill (Gullane) by 4&3, and Mason Chisholm who lost to Ellis Tate (West Links) by 2&1.
Harris Vennard beat Jimmy Middleton (Bonnyton) by 1 hole to secure his place in the last sixteen, and was joined by Archie Baker who beat Hamish Carnegie (Gullane) by 2&1.
In the round of 16 on Saturday morning, Harris Vennard tees off at 0820 against Eddie Jackson (Turnhouse) while Archie baker starts at 0900 against Alexander Yuill (Gullane).
There are two rounds of matchplay on saturday, with the semi finals and final due to be played on Sunday.
