SCOTTISH GIRLS' AND BOYS' CHAMPIONSHIPS - Two Ayrshire semi finalists at Pollok while title hopes are extinguished at Fraserburgh

Ayrshire has an interest in two semi final matches on Sunday morning, the 19th of July, at the Scottish Girls’ Championship being played at Pollok GC, following the two rounds of matchplay completed on Saturday the 18th of July.

In the first round of the championship matchplay on Saturday morning Hannah Ounap (Loudoun) beat Freya Dolan (Carnoustie) by 8&7 and followed up with a quarter final win over Lucy Moran (Dunbracken Ladies) by 4&3.

In the championship semi finals on Sunday morning Hannah faces Carla Burns (Douglas Park)

Of the three Ayrshire players who qualified for the handicap knockout competition for the Ainsley Reid Salver, Sandi Rogerson (Kilmarnock Barassie) beat Summer Xie (Swanston) by one hole before losing in the quarter finals to Sophine Macintosh (Whitecraigs) by 4&3, while Orla Moran (Irvine) lost her round of sixteen tie against Rebecca Whiteford (Lundin) by one hole.

Stefi Rogerson (Kilmarnock Barassie) defeated Verity Swift (St Regulus Ladies) by one hole on Saturday morning before clinching a place in Sunday morning’s semi finals with a 4&3 win over Tarah Simpson (Blairgowrie) in their quarter final clash.

In Sunday morning’s Ainsley Reid salver semi final Stefi plays Rita Murphy (Murrayfield) for a place in Sunday afternoon’s final. 

In the Scottish Boys’ Championship at Fraserburgh, Ayrshire’s hopes were extinguished at the last sixteen stage on Saturday morning, the 18th of July. 

Harris Vennard (Ayr Belleisle) lost to Eddie Jackson (Turnhouse) at the 19th, the first extra hole, while Archie Baker (Prestwick St Nicholas) lost to  Alexander Yuill (Gullane) by 4&3
