AYRSHIRE MEN'S HANDICAP LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - Just two quarter final places still to be decided.

As the eight quailfying sections for the 2026 Ayrshire Men's Handicap League Championship competition enter the final weekend for fixtures to be played, just two of the eight quarter final slots remain to be decided.


In SECTION 1, Stewarton defaulted on their final two scheduled fixtures, amking three defaulted fixtures in total in the season and as per the rules of the competition all their results were declared null and void. Fortunately the removal of their previous results had no effect on the final qualification for the quarter finals with Ardeer securing the place in the last eight as a result of a 6-0 home win over nearest challengers West Kilbride in their final fixture which put them out of reach at the top of the table with just the Kilmarnock Barassie Vs West Kilbride fixture remaining to be played on Sunday the 12th of July.

Current positions in Section 1 are:-

In SECTION 2 , A 5-1 home win for Beith over Prestwick St Cuthbert in their penultimate fixture of the campaign, coupled with  a 3-3 home draw for Loudoun against Moorpark means that beith go forward from the section into the quarrter finals. In the other fixture played recently irvine ravenspark had a 3.5 - 2.5 home win over Loudoun.

With the final fixture between Loudoun and Beith due to be played on Sunday the 12th of July, present positions in Section 2 are:-

In SECTION 3, Ayr Seafield need to avoid defeat against Wallacetown in their final fixture of the campaign on Sunday the 12th of July if they are to take the quarter final spot ahead of Golf South Ayrshire.

With just the Irvine vxs Wallacetown and Wallacetown Vs Ayr Seafield results to come in, present positions in Section 3 are:-

In SECTION 4, Tam O Shanter topped the table and took the quarter final place. In the final two fixtures, between Crosshouse and Portmann, Portman drew their home fixture 3 - 3 and won the return away from home by 3.5 - 2.5.

In SECTION 5, caprington had a 4.5-1.5 away win over Redburn to keep their qualification hopes on track, and require a win over Girvan in their final home fixture on saturday the 11th of July to overtake Kilbirnie Place at the top of the table.

With just the Caprington Vs Girvan fixture to be completed, present positions in section 5 are:-

In SECTION 6, Ayr Belleisle dominated the section to take the quarter final place.

In the last fixture of the section Royal Troon had a 4-2 away win over Annanhill. Final placings in section 6 were:-

In SECTION 7, DSrongan qualified for the quarter finals despite a 4-2 defeat in their final fixture at Rowallan Castle.

In SECTION 8, Alton secured their place in the quarter finals with a 5-1 home win over ballochmyle in the final fixture of the league section.

The quarter final matches will be played on a home and away basis and are due to be completed by the 2nd of August.
