Kilmarnock (Barassie) were one of two teams who qualified from the semi final competition in the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Inter Club Championshipplayed at Pumpherston Golf Club last Sunday, 11th October, booking their place in the Scottish final at Gleneagles on Sunday 25th October.
The Barassie team of Sean Cook, Fraser Rigby, Ewan Milligan, Andy Bogle, Ross McDonald and Ben Watson, who qualified to represent Ayrshire as the 2014 Ayrshire Junior Golf League Champions, finished in the runners up spot with a team total of 347, five shots behind the Bothwell Castle team from Lanarkshire.

SCOTTISH GOLF - Rowallan Castle pipped for Belhaven Captain & Secretaries championship

John Rushbury, who captained Ayrshire to the Area Team Championship title earlier in the year, teamed up with club Captain Andrew Macleod to return a 3 under par 67, which matched the best score of the day by the Tarland team.
Troon St Meddans were the next best of the four Ayrshire qualifiers for the final, John Nellany & Frank Drum finishing in joint 17th place with a 3 over par 73.
Stewarton, represented by Darren Murdoch & Tom Reid finished in joint 25th place after a 5 over par 75 whilst Ken Smith & John Boyle of Ardeer were tied 32nd with an eight over par 78.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - Documentation sent to member clubs
All member clubs of The Ayrshire Golf Association should now be in possession of an emailed copy of all the documentation for the forthcoming Annual general Meeting, to be held at Caprington Golf Club on Tuesday 20th October at 7.30 p.m.The Agenda, various reports and budget for the forthcoming year are all included, along with minutes of the 2014 AGM.
All clubs have been asked, if possible, to advise The Secretary of the names of their nominated attendees, prior to the AGM.
Any club not in possession of the documentation email should contact the Area Secretary as soon as possible to arrange for this to be resent.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Ayrshire suffer double defeat to Lanarkshire
The A team travelled to Lanark on the back of three successive wins, but despite Jack McDonald and Steven Wallace winning two of the opening three ties, single hole defeats suffered by Tommy McInally and Stuart Robin ultimately proved decisive as the team went down narrowly by 4 1/2 - 3 1/2.

RONNIE McLELLAN - Funeral arrangements for well known Ayrshire golfer
Former Prestwick St Cuthbert and Turnberry Club Champion, and well known Ayrshire golfer, Ronnie McLellan passed away last Tuesday, 29th September 2015, after a long fight with ill health.
A two time champion at Prestwick St Cuthbert in the 1990's and a five time winner of the Turnberry championship, Ronnie's proudest golfing achievement came in 2008 when he finished third in the Seniors Order Of Merit and was selected for the Scotland team who contested the Seniors Home Internationals at Tenby in South Wales, and helped the Scotland team to finish runners up in the championship.
Ronnie's funeral will be held on Tuesday 13th October at 1.15 p.m at Masonhill Crematorium, Ayr, to which all Ronnie's friends from the golfing community in Ayrshire are cordially invited.
Ronnie will be missed by many golfing friends and acquaintances throughout Ayrshire and beyond, and the thought of all at The Ayrshire Golf Association are with Ronnie's family at this sad time.
WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Ayrshire in strong position in both league at halfway stage
With three weekend of the five weekend series now completed in this years West Of Scotland Inter County A & Youths Leagues, ayrshire remain in a good position in both competitions.In the A League, a 100% record so far sees Ayrshire top the table just ahead of defending champions Renfrewshire, who drew their week 2 match with Stirlingshire.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Ayrshire score county double over Stirlingshire
For the second week in succession, the Ayrshire A and Youths teams both had wins over their opponents, this time from Stirlingshire, on Sunday 4th October.The A team, playing at Prestwick St Nicholas, maintained their 100% record in this years matches, with a 5.5 - 2.5 win.
Jack McDonald halved the leading match before Steven Wallace, Keith Hamilton and Craig Hamilton put the home side in a strong position with 4 & 3 wins in their respective ties, and Michael Smyth secured a win for the home side with the same winning score in his match.
Despite losses for Stuart Robin and Scott Brown, John shanks finished off an impressive performance by Ayrshire with a 2 & 1 win in the anchor tie.

After bouncing back with a win last week, after their opening match defeat the week before, the Ayrshire Youths side traveled to Callander to play Stirling Youths and returned a notable win away from home by 5 - 3.
Ayrshire took the first two ties to lead but after completion of six ties the match stood at 3 - 3, before 4 & 3 wins by Sandy Walker and Jordan Fraser in the anchor ties secured a win for the visiting Ayrshire side.

The Arrol Cup at Prestwick St Nicholas was the final counting event this year and Stuart Robin needed to finish alone in third place or better to overtake Shanks, who was unavailable for the last counting competition. Despite a valiant effort, Robin could only secure fourth place at St Nicholas, leaving him just 25 points behind Shanks in the chase for the Doc Thom Salver.
In one of the closest run contests for some time, Ayrshire Strokeplay Champion Tommy McInally (Loudoun) finished in thisrd place, just over 20 points behind Robin in second place and less than 50 points behind Shanks in top spot.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Ayrshire teams in victory double over Glasgow
The Ayrshire A and Youths teams both enjoyed victory over Glasgow in the second week of the five week series of matches in the 2015 West Of Scotland Inter County Leagues on Sunday 27th September.Having beaten Dumbartonshire at home last week, the A team traveled to play Glasgow at cawder this week and returned a convincing 6 - 2 victory.
Jack McDonald, fresh from his expolits in the walker Cup, gave Ayrshire an early lead with victory over Jamie Savage but a defeat for Stuart Robin leveled the scores.
With the third and fourth ties close, Scott Brown lost heavily to Stephen Machin in the fifth tie to give Glasgow a brief 2 - 1 lead, but the home advantage was short lived.
Despite setting off in the morning for the match without his golf clubs in tow, Michael Smyth recovered from the experience to win 5 & 3 and level the match, and Ayrshire forged ahead again soon after with victories by Keith Hamilton and John Shanks in the anchor ties. With a 4 - 2 lead and two ties still on the course, Tommy McInally and Steven Wallace rounded off a fine result with victories in their respective ties at the seventeenth and eighteenth greens.
