In perfect conditions, with the added attraction of the Open Championship stands in place, the Hillhouse Cup attracted a bumper quality field this year and Macneal overcame any serious challenge with an excellent score of 73 which left him three ahead of his nearest rivals.

The win leaves Charlie Macneal just ahead of Greg telfer (Prestwick St Cuthbert) and Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) with the first three of the eighteen counting events now completed.
The next counting events are the West Of Scotland Strokeplay at Loudoun Gowf Club on Sunday 22nd May, followed by the Scottish Strokeplay Championship at Gullane No 1 from 27th to 29th may and the West Kilbride Open which is on the 29th of May.
