Entry is £10 and can be submitted either by 'hard copy' entry forms, which are available to print off via the link below, or by entering on line via the Scottish Golf App by going to the Events tab and changing the club to Ayrshire Golf Association on the drop down menu and selecting ‘OPEN’ on the right hands side. Then chose your competition then click on the basket on the top right-hand side. Complete the entry by selecting your preferred zone and continue to payment.
The Sandy Provan Trophy will be won by the player returning the best nett score of the day, while there will also be voucher prizes in several categories including best scratch score and nett score in three age group categories, and a couple of nearest the hole prizes.

The eight players returning the best scratch scores on the day will go forward to contest the 2026 Ayrshire Senior Men's Matchplay Championship, the final of which will be held at Royal Troon GC on Friday the 14th of August.

The first match on the course featured Calum Nairn of Prestwick St Cuthbert GC and Keith Hamilton of Royal Troon. Calum had the better of the early exchanges and maintained his advantage to run out the eventual winner by 4 & 2
Also a winner on the final green in his first round tie was Graeme Gimson of Prestwick St Cuthbert GC who overcame Blair Morton of Royal Troon GC by a single hole. Graeme took the early initiative, forging a four hole lead by the turn but Blair clawed his way back into the game and took the tie to the final tee one behind. After Graeme found a bunker on the left from the tee, Blair looked to be favourirt to take the tie into extra holes after he found the right side of the putting surface with his approach, the ball finishing around 25 feet from the hole. Graeme had other ideas however, and played an excellent chip from twenty five yards short of the green to within 15 inches of the hole, prompting a conceded par four. Despite a good effort, Blair's birdie putt remained above ground and Graeme progressed to the second round by the narrowest of margins.
In Tuesday's quarter-finals Graeme Gimson will face Andy Gibson of Caprington GC who was up
against Michael Main of Largs GC in the opening round, and prevailed eventually by 3&2 in another closely fought encounter.
In an all Irvine GC encounter Tom Loy faced Darren Mallinson for a place in round two and it was Tom who won through to the last eight with a victory on the penultimate green by 2&1.
The quarter final ties take place at Western Gailes GC on Tuesday the 5th of May from 4.45 p,m.
The Ayrshire Golf Association team lost out to Lanarkshire in their opening 2026 Scottish Men’s Area Team Championship match at Kirkhill GC on Sunday 3rd May.
In the morning foursomes Lanarkshire took a crucial 3-0 lead into the afternoon singles, and when honours were shared in the afternoon singles 3-3 the overall result was 6-3 in favour of Lanarkshire.

The new Ayrshire Men's Strokeplay Champions hole in one at West Kilbride GC was marked this weekend.
Alan McLean (Largs GC) holed his tee shot at the ninth in the second round of his win on Sunday 26th April.
Prior to this weekends Area Team Championship match Past President handed a commemorative certificate to Alan on behalf of The Association to mark his hole in one, the sixth of his career, but his first away from Kilbirnie Place GC where he was a long time member.
The Ayrshire A Team open their bid for the 2026 Scottish Men's Area team Championship on Sunday the 3rd of May against Lanarkshire at Kirkhill Golf Club, with the team being selected and announced shortly after the Ayrshire Men's Strokeplay Championship recently.
The new Ayrshire Men's Strokeplay Campion Alan McLean (Largs) is joined in the teeam by 2025 Ayrshire Order of Merit winner John Shanks (Irvine), 2025 Ayrshire Men's Strokeplay Champion Harvey Broadfoot (Royal Troon) along with Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) , Blair Morton (Royal Troon) and Steven Stamper (Turnberry).
The match comprises three fouromes ties in the morning and six singles ties in the afternoon.
Ayrshire ar at home in the other two qualifying section matches, on the 7th of June against Lothians at Ballochmyle GC and on the 12th of July against Glasgow at Ayr Seafield.
The Scottish Men's Area team Championship finals weekend will be held on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of September at Largs GC.
In Section 1, West Kilbride beat their visitors from Largs 4-2 in their opening fixture.
Golf South Ayrshire had a home win by 4.5-1.5 over Troon St Meddans in Section 3.
In sections 4 and 5 there were opening away wins by 3.5-2.5 for Auchenharvie 88 and Girvan over Crosshouse and Kilbirnie Place respectively.
All sectional matches are due to be completed by mid July, with the section winners progressing to the knockout stages.
Chris Hewitson (Wallacetown) and Colin Ward (Rowallan Castle) progressed with walkovers against Gary Burgess (Troon Welbeck) and Greg Nichol (Kilmarnock Barassie) respectively, while Barry McDonnell (Stewarton) and Alan Miller (Portmann) had 3&2 home wins over Stuart Geddes (West Kilbride) and Lee Walker (Braehead) to book their places in round two.
Scott Brown (Prestwick St Cutbhbert) had a 6&5 away win over Connor Munro (Golf South Ayrshire) while another away winner was Ryan Morrison (Ayr Seafield) who beat Alasdair Berry (Irvine Ravenspark) by 7&6.
The remaining first round tie saw Rory Acheson (Routenburn) have a 4&3 home win over Kevin McGowan (Prestwick Centre) to progress to round 2.
