PRESIDENT'S PUTTER - Prestwick St Nicholas through to semi finals

Prestwick St Nicholas are through to the final of the 2021 handicap club team knockout competition, for the President's Putter.

In their quarter final match played this week, at home to The Chase, the St Nicholas team won by 2.5 - 0.5 to book their place in the last four, where they will face an away fixture against Auchenharvie 88.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY UNDER 18 LEAGUE - Ayrshire keep title hopes on track with away win over Stirlingshire

The Ayrshire Under 18 team kept their hopes of retaining the Wishart Trophy, and West of Scotland inter county under 18 league title, for a third successive year, with a win on the road against Strilingshire at Grangemouth on Sunday the 25th of July.


The Ayrshire cause was helped by the non appearance of two of the Stirlingshire team, which gave Oliver Long and John McCracken walkovers in their respective ties.

In the three remaining under 16 ties, Ayrshire swept the boards, wins by Rory Inglis, Ryan Kennedy and Jack Broadfoot, giving Ayrshire the required points for a win overall.

In the remaining Under 18 ties, the Ayrshire players, Ryan Stribling, Jack Allan and Harvey Broadfoot, all lost their ties but Ayrshire still came away with victory in the match.

Ayrshire still have a postponed home fixture with Glasgow to arrange, whilst Ayrshire's other two matches to be played in this seasons competition are a home match against Lanarkshire at caprington on the 22nd of August and an away fixture with Dumbartonshire at Clydebank & District on the 19th of September.

Dumbartonshire had a 4.5 - 3.5 win over Glasgow at Clober on Sunday the 25th of July to maintain their 100% record in the competition to date, and lead the current standings, which are:-

HANDICAP LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - Five of eight quarter final places decided.

Five of the eight quarter final places have been decided in the 2021 Ayrshire Handicap League Championship competition, following completion of a number of fixtures recently. 

In SECTION A, Turnberry kept their hopes of qualification alive with a 4 – 2 win at home to Kilbirnie Place, as leaders Moorpark lost 5 – 1 at Kilbirnie.

Turnberry are away from home in the two remaining fixtures in the section, at Kilbirnie and Moorpark, and substantial wins in both could still see Turnberry edging out Moorpark for the automating quarter final place.

In SECTION B, Ayr Dalmilling beat their visitors from Ardeer by 4 – 2 in the final fixture of the section, which moved them into second place in the table, ahead of West Kilbride on tie difference.

In SECTION D, Auchenharvie secured a vital 3 – 3 draw at home to Stewarton in their final fixture to win the section, as Caprington narrowly failed to improve their position in their final fixture, losing out 3.5 – 2.5 in their final away fixture against Stewarton.

In SECTION F, Routenburn had a 4.5 – 1.5 win at home over Redburn to move into joint top spot in the table.

There are just two fixtures remaining in the section, Troon Merchants hosting Alto in one, with the other being a winner takes all match when Routenburn travel to play joint leaders Redburn, the winner being assured of a place in the quarter finals.

In SECTION G, Royal Troon moved into second place in the table with a 4 – 2 win away to Tam O Shanter in their most recent fixture. There are five fixtures remaining to be completed in this section, but Troon Welbeck have already claimed the automatic quarter final place, having won their opening six ties in the section.
