AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - latest update on league positions

The latest positions in all, four Ayrshire Scratch Leagues have been updated following recent matches.


In DIVISION 1, Irvine lead the way following there recent 4 – 2 win away to Kilmarnock (Barassie).

The title hopes of Prestwick St Cuthbert suffered a setback with a 4 – 2 defeat at home to Turnberry whilst Loudoun maintained their challenge with a 3 – 3 draw away to Kilmarnock (Barassie).

In DIVISION 2, Royal Troon boosted their title hopes recently, following a 4 – 2 home win over Caprington with two wins over near neighbours Troon St Meddans, a 3.5 – 2.5 home win being followed up with a 4 – 2 win away from home on Sunday the 4th on July.

In the other match played recently in the division, Troon Portland beat their visitors from Largs by 3.5 – 2.5 to move off the bottom of the table.

In DIVISION 3a, Ayr Belleisle moved to the top of the table following a 5 – 1 home win over Prestwick St Nicholas, though their hopes for the title suffered a setback in their latest match, with a 4.5 – 1.5 defeat away to Redburn.

In DIVISION 3b, Rowallan Castle remain in front, with just four results remaining to be included in the final table.

A recent 5 – 1 win at Routenburn by Rowallan castle was tempered by a 4 – 2 defeat in the corresponding away fixture, whilst in the other fixture played recently, Irvine Ravenspark gained a 3 – 3 draw on their visit to Ardeer.

GARY BRYDEN MEMORIAL SALVER - Holders Royal Troon through to quarter finals

The holders of the Gary Bryden Memorial Salver, Royal Troon, are through to the quarter finals of the scratch club team knockout competition, in their bid to defend the trophy.

In the second round the Royal Troon team were away to Girvan but secured a 2 - 1 win to secure a visit to either Irvine or Ayr Dalmilling in the last eight. 

Irvine Ravenspark are also through to the quarter finals, courtesy of a walkover against Prestwick St Nicholas,  and will now host Kilmarnock Barassie in the last eight.

The other second round ties were due to be completed by Sunday the 4th of July, and a full update on the quarter final line up will be published soon.

PRESIDENT'S PUTTER - Redburn through to last eight

Redburn are through to the quarter finals of the 2021 handicap club team knockout competition for The President's Putter.

A 2 - 1 home win over their visitors from Ballochmyle on Friday earned them a visit to Prestwick St Cuthbert in the quarter finals.

All ties in the competition were due to be completed by Sunday the 4th of July, and an update on the quarter final line up will be published soon.


AYRSHIRE FOURBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - Thre results from second round outstanding

Three results from three ties in the second round of the 2021 Ayrshire Fourball Championship, which were due to be completed by the 27th of June, remain outstanding. 

The competitors in the three ties involved,

Kilbirnie Place Vs Tam O Shanter

Prestwick Centre vs Ardeer

and

Ayr Dalmilling Vs Irvine

are requested to report the match result to the championship administrator as soon as possible. failure to do so may result in both clubs in the respective ties being scratched from the tournament.

In recent ties completed, Annanhill (T Wilson & D Bolland) won at the second extra hole away to Auchenharvie 88 (S Turner & W Bark) and are now at home to Stewarton (A Stewart & A Stewart Jr) in round three.

Glacier (S Kirk & G Steele) had a single hole victory over their visitors from Portmann (M Hunter & G Bole) and now face an away tie in round three against either Kilbirnie Place or Tam O Shanter.

Troon Portland (B Wilson & F McCall) crushed their hosts Prestwick St Nicholas (M Meney & G Wilson) by 6 & 5 to earn a visit to Ardeer in round 3, whilst Malletsheugh (J Cairney & M Savage) won by 5 & 4 against Kilmarnock Barassie (J Milligan & D Lindsay) to earn a visit to play NB Parkstone in the last sixteen.

Also through to the third round are Drongan (J Kelly & S Watt), Irvine (J Brennen & A McLaughlan, and Braehead (E Gilmour & S Holland), after wins against Caprington (M Smith & C Muldoon), Ayr Carrick (J Cowan & G Blane) and Troon Welbeck (D McEwan & A Young) respectively.
