AYRSHIRE FOURBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - 43 pairs bid for 2018 title

Pairings from 43 member clubs will contest the 2018 Ayrshire Fourball Championship, the draw for which was made recently.

Ties will be played on a knockout basis throughout the summer, culminating in the final, to be played during Finals day on 2nd Sptember.

Details of the draw, contacts and the rules of competition will be forwarded to competitors in the near future.

THE AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Draws for 2018 competitions published.

The draws for the 2018 Ayrshire Junior Golf League competitions were made this week at a meeting of club representatives.

In the LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP the nine competing clubs have been drawn into two qualifying leagues, with the winners of each league going on to contest the championship final in September.

The qualifying leagues are:-

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT COMPETITION, there are two first round matches, with the remaining teams getting a bye into the quarter finals.

The first round matches, to be played by 4th June are:-

Ardeer Vs Irvine

The winners of these ties will join Ayr Belleisle, Loudoun, Kilmarnock Barassie, Troon Welbeck, Prestwick St. Cuthbert and Caprington in the quarter final draw in June.

In the CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS competition, the Ayrshire Boys Champion Jack Broun, Ayrshire Boys Matchplay Champion Euan Ferguson and Robbie Muir of Kilmarnnock Barassie all received byes into the quarter finals.

To mark the 50th anniversary of The Ayrshire Junior Golf League this year, a number of additional events are planned to be held during the season.

THE PRESIDENT'S PUTTER - 36 clubs enter the Handicap Club team Knockout cometition.

The Handicap Club Team Knockout competition for The President's Putter will see 36 Ayrshire Golf association member clubs battling it out over the summer months to try to take the title from the holders, Ballochmyle.

The 2017 winners received a bye into round 2 when the draw was made, and entertain irvine Ravenspark in their opening tie this year.

THE GARY BRYDEN MEMORIAL SALVER - 22 clubs contest the Scratch Club Team Knockout event in 2018

22 Clubs have entered the 2018 Scratch Club Team Knockout competition for the Gary Bryden Memorial Salver.

Holders Prestwick St Cuthbert face a first round tie away to Tam O Shanter in their bid to retain the trophy.

AYRSHIRE HANDICAP LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - 26 clubs to contest 2018 title

The 2018 Ayrshire Handicap League Championship has attracted a bumper entry of 26 clubs, in the second year of the competition.

Two qualifying leagues comprising 7 teams and two comprising 6 teams will be contested over the summer months, on a home and away basis, with the winners of each league going forward  to contest the semi finals.

Scottish Golf appoints football chief McKinlay as new CEO

 Scottish Golf is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew McKinlay as its new Chief Executive.

Andrew joins us from the Scottish FA, where he has worked in a number of key senior management roles over the past six years, most recently as Chief Operating Officer and Interim Chief Executive.

He has been appointed after a rigorous recruitment process which commenced last October and attracted a host of high-calibre applicants.

Eleanor Cannon, Scottish Golf Chair: “On behalf of the Board of Scottish Golf, I am thrilled to welcome Andrew as our new Chief Executive. Throughout the process his experience, enthusiasm and vision stood out from a hugely impressive field of candidates.

“We were particularly impressed by the range of responsibilities in football, especially in overseeing football’s equality and diversity strategy at all levels of the game. Increasing girls’ and women’s participation is a priority focus area for Scottish Golf and his expertise will be vital to our future growth strategy.

“Andrew is passionate about golf and his experience working in sport and business will be integral to taking Scottish Golf’s strategic plan forward.

“We look forward to welcoming Andrew to Scottish Golf in May.”

With a fortnight to go, the 2018 Ayrshire Golf Association Annual Dinner and Presentation of Trophies, which takes place at Prestwick St Cuthbert Golf Club on Friday 16th February is completely sold out.

The Association would like to thank all the clubs and individuals who have supported the event this year.
