N. B. PARKSTONE GOLF CLUB - new name for Prestwick based club

Following a recent move to a new base in the town, Prestwick's North Beach Golf Club have changed their name to N.B. Parkstone Golf Club.

Formed by some of the local caddies from Prestwick Golf Club in 1984, the club were, until it's recent closure, based at the North Beach Hotel in Links Road.

A move of their base to the nearby Parkstone Hotel in Ardayre Road has been followed by a name change to link with their new home.

The club are the only SGL affiliated club who play over the South Ayrshire municipal courses, at Troon, and members regularly compete in county events each year.

Best wishes are extended to the club, and the Parkstone Hotel, in their new association.

AYRSHIRE BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP FLASHBACK - Golden Jubilee reception - how many can you name

In 2002 the Ayrshire Boys Golf Championship celebrated 50 years and at the conclusion of the competition that year South Ayrshire Council hosted a Civic Reception for various guests, including a number of past champions

There are 19 past Ayrshire Boys Champions in this picture, along with three local authority officials in the front row, Ayrshire Golf asssociation President Morgan Hall and Campionship Secretary Alasdair Malcolm. Wonder if anyone can name all 19 past champions ?

NEW AYRSHIRE COUNTY EVENTS - Entry forms for two new competitions sent to Club Secretaries

The entry forms for two new Ayrshire county competitions have been sent by email to Club Secretaries today.

2016 sees the introduction of an Ayrshire Scratch Team Knockout Competition and and Ayrshire Handicap Team Knockout competition.

Entry to both competitions is open to all member clubs of the Ayrshire Golf Association, with only one entry per club.

Matches will be played on a one off, home or away, basis, depending on the draw, and will continue throughout the season with a final played on a neutral venue in September.

Matches will comprise two singles and one foursomes tie, with all ties being played to a finis, continuing into extra holes of necessary.

There is no limit to the number of players a club can use throughout the competitions, and no requirement for the same player or players to represent the club in every round.

There will be a redraw after completion of each round of the competitions, to determining home advantage in subsequent rounds.

It has been decided that there will be no entry fee for either competition this year, and if the events prove successful it is anticipated they will become a fixture in the calendar of events in future years.

The Association hope that the introduction of these events will give member clubs an opportunity to involve more of their players in gaining representative experience on behalf of their club in county competition.

All clubs should note that the closing date for this years competitions is 28th FEBRUARY 2016.

Any Club Secretary who is not in receipt of the email and two entry forms sent today should make contact with the Area Secretary for further copies to be forwarded.

AYRSHIRE CLUB COMPETITIONS - Two new inter club county events to be introduced in 2016

Two new inter club county knockout events are to be introduced to the Ayrshire Golf Association championships this year.

The SCRATCH TEAM KNOCKOUT and HANDICAP TEAM KNOCKOUT competitions are to be introduced in 2016.

Both events will be played separately, but will be contested under a similar format, comprising two singles and one foursomes tie.

Matches will be played on a one off basis, either home or away, with a new draw being made after completion of each round.

All ties in the matches will be played to a finish, continuing into extra holes if necessary.

Details of both events will be forwarded to club secretaries by email in the near future, with entries anticipated to close on 28th February.

It has been decided that, for the first year, clubs will be invited to take part in both events with no entry fee being applied.

It is hoped that the introduction of these competitions will give clubs an opportunity to involve more of their members in playing representative golf on behalf of their clubs.
