AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Title joy for Loudoun in final match showdown

Loudoun Gowf Club are the 2012 Ayrshire Scratch League Division 1 winners after a final match win which took them clear at the top of the table.

In a winner takes all last match showdown against Irvine Ravenspark at Loudoun, it was the home side who triumphed by 4 - 2 to take the premier title for 2012.

SCHOOLS INTERNATIONAL GOLF - Three Ayrshire players in Scotland team at Hesketh

Ayrshire had three players in the Scotland Scools team as the national side encountered mixed fortunes in their annual match against England at Hesketh on Monday 10th September.

Euan Walker (Marr College), David Wilson (Marr College) and Connie Jaffrey (Kilwinning Academy) featured in the Scotland team for the match.

Scotland schoolgirls beat their England counterparts 6-3 after winning the singles 5-1 but Scotland's boys went down 10 1/2- 7 1/2 in the annual schools golf international at Hesketh Golf Club, Lancashire today.
The Scots schoolboys lost the foursomes 4-2 to England and then lost the singles 6 1/2 to 5 1/2
Winners for the Scots girls in their afternoon "charge" in the singles were Lesley Atkins, Rachel Walker, Connie Jaffrey, Clara Young and team captain Jessica Meek.

AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Champions Irvine on course for title defence

Defending champions Irvine GC remain on course to defend their Ayrshire Junior Golf League Championship title after a semi final win over Loudoun.

In the first leg of their semi final,  Irvine won 4 - 2 win at home and battled to a 3 - 3 draw at Loudoun to go through to the semi finals by 7 - 5 on aggregate.

In the final, scheduled to take place at Prestwick St Cuthbert GC on Sunday 16th September, Irvine will face a team from the host club.

In the semi finals, Prestwick St Cuthbert, bidding for their first win in the event since 1973, beat Kilmarnock (Barassie) away from home by 4 - 2 before completing thier semi final win in some style with a 5 - 1 home win to go through by 9 - 3 on aggregate.

TELEGRAPH JUNIOR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP - Walker into national final as top qualifier

Ayrshire Boys Champion Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) will take part in the final of the 2012 Telegraph Junior Golf Championship, taking his place in the finals qualifying in first place following his efforts in the opening round of the Ayrshire Boys Championship at Largs back in August.

Walker's score of seven under the CSS in his morniong round at largs put him into first place amongst the 10 qualifyers from the national leaderboard when the qualification events for the championship concluded this week.

The finals, which take place from 22nd to 25th October at the luxury Close House Hotel & Golf complex in Newcastle, feature the 10 national boys qualifiers, the defending champion and a sponsors invite as well as 8 national girls qualifiers and a girls sponsors invite.

The list of previous winners of the event, innaugurated in 1985, contains some players who have gone on to become household names in both mens and ladies golf.

AYRSHIRE FOURBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - Final set for Kilmarnock Barassie

The final of the 2012 Ayrshire Fourball Championship will be played on Sunday 23rd September at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club.

The final will tee off at 11.30 a.m. and features Robert Marshall & Philip Rooney of Beith against George & David McCulloch of Brunston Castle.

WEST OF SCOTLAND BOYS LEAGUE - Ayrshire pipped in final match at Bishopbriggs

The Ayrshire Under 18 team lost out narrowly to Glasgow in their final match of the 2012 West Of Scoptland Under 18 Inter County League for the Wishary Trophy at Bishopbriggs on Sunday 9th September.

Glasgow edged out their visitors by 5 - 3.

The West Of Scotland Inter Club Leagues for the Greenlees Trophy are rapidly drawing to a close, with Ayrshire clubs featuring at the top of the tables, and in some cases in the relegation battles, in the latter stages.
