Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas) continued a great run of recent form this week, just narrowly losing out on winning a national title.

In the Loretto Golf Academy Under 16 Girls Open Championship, played at Murrayfield GC on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th August, Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas continued her good recent form with a joint second place finish.

Rounds of  77 and 73 gave Foster a four over par total of 150 which matched the score of Leonor Medeiros of Portugal and left both just one shot adrift of the winner, Filipa Capelo, also from Portugal.

Foster’s recent successful run included a play off defeat in the Nick Faldo Series Scottish final at Bruntsfield Links on Thursday 9th August when rounds of 71, 72 & 70 gave her a level par total of 213.

Although she was defeated at the first extra hole in a three way play off for the overall title by a birdie from the winner Andrew Ni, Foster had a six shot victory in the girls Under 16 competiton and qualified to go forward to the Nick faldo Series Grand Final at Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club in Abu Dhabi from 26th to 28th November 2018.

The Nick faldo Series performance followed on from a win by Foster in the St Andrews University School Girls Championship at the beginning of august with a one under par total for the three round competition.
