Ayrshire made it three wins from three in the West Division Inter County Campionship on Wednesday 17th June at Loudoun Gowf Club, defeating Renfrewshire by 5 - 4, to book their place in the County Finals at Stranraer from 18th to 20th September.

In the morning foursomes, Ayrshire again took a decisive
lead, as they did on all three championship days.
Connie Jaffrey and Audrey Thompson secured the first point
with a 7 & 6 before Jenny Linklater & Emma Hale added a second.
Catherine Malcolm and Linzi Allan secured a vital half match
in the last of the morning foursomes on the course, fighting back from three
down with four to play to share the spoils and leave Ayrshire needing two
points from the six afternoon singles to win the series.
In the lead match, county champion Catherine Malcolm secured
Ayrshire ‘s first singles point with a 4 & 3 win but some nervy moments
followed as the next three Ayrshire players lost their ties. Audrey Thompson
made sure of the title for Ayrshire with a 2 & 1 win in the penultimate tie
before Jenny Linklater added a further half point in the anchor tie, making the
final match score 5 – 4 in Ayrshire’s favour.

Four of the
eight Ayrshire players finished the series undefeated, with girls
internationalist Emma Hale having five wins from five, County Champion Catherine
Malcolm and host club member Audrey Thompson each earning 4 ½ points out of
five and County Vice Captain Liz Keohone contributing two points from the two
ties in which she was involved.
