JUNIOR VAGLIANO TROPHY - Strong performance by Hazel McGarvie for G.B. & I.

Despite being on the losing side in the Junior Vagliano Trophy match at Malone Golf Club in Ireland this week, Hazel McGarvie (Troon Ladies) produced a fine performance over the two days, taking three of a possible four points in the series.

In the opening foursomes on Friday morning, 26th June, Hazel McGarvie teamed up with Emma price to record a one hole victory over Emma Spitz & Julia Engstrom as G.B. & I. led by 2 - 1 at lunch.

In the afternoon singles McGarvie had a 5 & 4 wiin over Isabella Holpfer but was the only singles winner as the Continent Of Europe team took the singles 5 - 1 to lead by 6 - 3 overnight.

On Saturday morning McGarvie again paired up with Price against the same opponents as the day before, but it was the Continent Of Europe duo who came out on top this time with a 5 & 3 win.

In the afternoon singles McGarvie bounced back from the morning disappointment to record a second successive 5 & 4 singles win, this time against Mathilde Claisse.

Despite her win, the G.B.& I. team lost out by 10.5 - 7.5 overall to their Continent Of Europe counterparts.

In the main Vagliano Trophy match, also played over the same two days at malone GC, the Continent Of Europe reatined the trophy with a narrow 12.5 - 11.5 win.
