AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Quarter final draws made for competitions.

This week saw the draws for the quarter finals of two Ayrshire Junior Golf League competitions made at a meeting of club representatives.

In the CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition, Ross McDonald (Irvine) and Louis Dymond (West Kilbride) took their place in the draw courtesy of walkovers against Hamish Mills (Largs) and Greg Breadon (Irvine Ravenspark) respectively, whilst Ayrshire Boys Strokeplay Champion Craig Mckenzie completed the line up following a 3 & 3 home win over Fraser Rigby (Kilmarnock Barassie) in the previous round.

The quarter final draw, with ties to be completed by 31st July, is :-

Elliot Spence (Loudoun) Vs. Graeme Greer (Prestwick St Nicholas)
Andrew Shaw (Prestwick St Cuthbert) Vs. Declan Chalmers (Ballochmyle)
Louis Dymond (West Kilbride) Vs. Euan Ferguson (Turnberry)
Craig McKenzie (Ayrshire Boys Champion) Vs. Ross McDonald (Irvine)

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT competition Troon Welbeck booked their quarter final place with a 3 - 1 home win over Caprington, whilst Ardeer had a good away win at Ballochmyle by 2.5 - 1.5. The quarter final line up was completed by Kilmarnock Barassie who were given a walkover against Prestwick St Nicholas.

The draw for the quarter finals, with ties to be completed by 31st July, is :-

Turnberry Vs. Irvine
Troon Welbeck Vs. Ayr Belleisle
West Kilbride Vs. Ardeer
Kilmarnock Barassie vs. Loudoun

In the LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, a number of matches have been completed in Section A, whilst Section B matches have still to get started.

Turnberry moved to the top of the table with four games played, their opening 4 - 2 win at Home to Ayr Belleisle being tempered by a 4 - 2 defeat at West Kilbride in their second fixture. A 4.5 - 1.5 home win over Irvine got the Turnberry challenge back on track, and they moved clear at the top of the table following a 3 - 3 draw in their fourth fixture, in the return match against Ayr Belleisle.

Ayr Belleisle bounced back from their opening defeat to Turnberry with a 4 - 2 home win over Troon Welbeck and a 3 - 3 draw at home to West Kilbride, and moved into second place following the=ir draw at home to Turnberry in their latest fixture.

In the other matches completed so far, Troon Welbeck got their first win of the season with a 5 - 1 result at home to Irvine, whilst Irvine also got their first win of the year, with a 4 - 2 result at home to West Kilbride.
