Three Ayrshire players were in the top five at a windy and wet West Kilbride when the West Of Scotland Seniors Championship was held there at the end of June.
Robert Jenkins (Royal Troon) was 3rd with two round total of 145, whilst Gary Cochran (Irvine Ravenspark ) and Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) shared 4th spot on 146.
Gary had the consolation of sharing first place in the handicap section with Phil Dempsey (Tulliallan G.C.), with a score of 141.
Paul Moultrie started the season by sharing the gold medal in the Spring Meeting at Monifieth with a total of 141, with Robert Jenkins finishing in a tie for 12th in that event.
At the North of Scotland Seniors Paul McKellar (Royal Troon) finished 6th on 148 with Paul Moultrie a shot further back in 7th spot. Alistair Belford ( Prestwick St.Nicholas ) shared 14th place on 152.
Paul Moultrie's fine early season form continued with a tie for 11th with a 36 hole aggregate of 149 at the East of Scotland Seniors played at Edzell G.C.
Alistair Belford was the top Ayrshireman at the Scottish Seniors Open Championship played at Royal Burgess, with a 54 hole aggregate of 225 which earned him a share of 27th place in a strong international field.
4 Ayrshire players are in the top 20 on the Scottish Golf Order of Merit.
As of the end of June, last year's winner, Graham Bell of Downfield G.C. leads again this year with 568 points, Paul Moultrie lies 5th with 370 points, Robert Jenkins 10th with 166 points, Gary Cochran 19th with 95 points and Paul McKellar is one place further back with 80 points.
