SCOTTISH BOYS & GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS - Louise Duncan & Claire McLaughlin fly the flag in girls' event

Louise Duncan & Claire McLaughlin, both from West Kilbride, kept Ayrshire hopes alive in the Scottish Girls Championship on Sunday 2nd July, winning through to the quarter finals of the championship and handicap event respectively.

Top qualifier Duncan faced an all Ayrshire clash in the first round of matchplay, against Rachel Foster (Turnberry) and ran out winner by 3 & 1.

In the quarter finals on Monday morning, Duncan plays Cameron Neilson (Alvaneau Bad).

In the handicap competition, Claire Mclaughlin defeated Grace Evans (Fleetwood) by 4 & 2 to set up a quarter final clash on Monday against Eildh Henderson (Loretto School).



Alyx Murray

In the boys event at Scotscraig, the only Ayrshire player who remains in the last 32, following the first round proper of matchplay on Sunday, is Alyx  Murray (Troon Welbeck).

Murray had a one hole win over Lachlan Reynolds (Hilton Park) and will continue his title bid on Monday morning against Jack Williams (Sandyhills)

Ruben Lindsay (Ayr Belleisle) lost by 3&1 to Calvin Duffton (Aboyne) whilst Robbie Muir (Kilmarnock Barassie) suffered a single hole defeat to William Ladbrooke (Gullane)
