SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - 44 Ayrshire club members in the field for Prestwick championship

Members of Ayrshire golf clubs fill 44 of the 264 places in the 2017 Scottish Amateur Championship which will be played at Prestwick and Prestwick St Cuthbert golf clubs from 31st July to 5th August.

The format of the championship has altered this year, all competitors completing two strokeplay rounds, one over each course, on Monday 31st July and Tuesday 1st August before the top 64 and ties progress to the matchplay staged over the Prestwick GC links from Wednesday 2nd August.

Tee times on both courses on the opening two days run from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm.

The change in format allows for a larger field to be accommodated than the traditional 256 under the former, fully matchplay, format.
