TROON WELBECK JUNIOR OPEN - Another Order Of Merit event falls victim to player apathy

Another Ayrshire Junior Order Of Merit event has fallen victim to player apathy, with the announcement today that the Troon Welbeck Junior Open has been cancelled due to lack of entries.

Due to be played on Friday 22nd July, the lack of entries this year left organisers with no alternative to cancel the event.

Troon Welbeck Junior Convener Alex McCrone commented:-

"It is with regret that I have taken the decision to cancel this years Junior Open at Troon Welbeck.

Having given time for late entries I felt that with three days to go and having only 13 entries

including our own players this decision had to be made.

There appears to be a trend amongst juniors of leaving it to the last minute and expecting to be

given a time. Unfortunately this does not help the competition organisers as they cannot plan ahead

for numbers and costs to the club.

Troon Welbeck would like to thank all players who have taken the time to enter in advance 

and we apologise for any inconvenience caused".
