AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Turnberry and Kilmarnock Barassie lead in league Championship final bid.

Turnberry and Kilmarnock Barassie lead in the bid to secure places in the Ayrshire Junior Golf League Championship final, as matches in both qualifying sections continue towards a conclusion.

In SECTION A, can secure a place in the final with victory in their final match away to Irvine who, with four ties still to play, are the only club that can still catch Turnberry at the top of the table.

Recent fixtures saw Turnberry beat Prestwick St Nicholas 5-1 and draw 3-3 with Irvine at home, and record a crucial 4.5-1.5 away win over Ayr Belleisle while Irvine maintained their challenge with a 3.5-2.5 home win over Troon Welbeck.

Prestwick St Nicholas had two home fixtures recently which resulted in a 3-3 draw with Troon Welbeck and a narrow 3.5-2.5 defeat to Ayr Belleisle.

With four fixtures remaining to be played, present positions in Section A are:-

In SECTION B, Kilmarnock barassie maintained their unbeaten record with a 6-0 home win over East Ayrshire, who themselves had a 5-1 home win over Prestwick St Cuthbert and a 3-3 draw away to Ballochmyle, while West Kilbride maintained their hopes with a 4-2 home win over Ballochmyle.

With nine fixtures still to be completed, present positions in Section B are:-

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT COMPETITION, three of the four semi final places have been secured, with only the result of the match between Turnberry and Caprington to be confirmed.

In the quarter finals Troon Welbeck were awarded a walkover by Loudoun while Ayr Belleisle beat their visitors from Annanhill by 3.5-05, and Irvine went through on their visit to Prestwick St Cuthbert by 26-7 on the countback after a 2-2 draw in the match.

in the WALLACE THORNTON TROPHY competition, Kilmarnock Barassie await the winners of the other three quarter final ties before the draw for the semi finals ins made.

In the AYRSHIRE JUNIOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition, Euan Forrest (West Kilbride) had a 5&3 home win over Sandi Rogerson (Kilmarnock Barassie) to book the first semi final place, with the results of the other three second round ties still awaited.
