Hazel McGarvie (Royal Troon) is through to the last sixteen of the Woman's Amateur Championship, being held this week at Royal County Down GC in Ireland.In the first round of the matchplay on Thursday morning, McGarvie dispatched Renate Hjelle Grimstad (Norway) with a 5 & 4 win before overcoming Gioia Carpinelli (Switzerland) by 2 & 1 in round two played on Thursday afternoon.
On Friday morning McGarvie plays Amalie Leth-Nissen (Denmark) for a place in the quarter finals.
Fellow Scot Fiona Liddell also made it through to the last sixteen, and faces Beatrice Wallen (Sweden) in the third round, whilst the other Scot to qualify for the matchplay stages, Chloe Goadby, lost out by 3 & 2 in her first round match.
