Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) was one of four Scots who qualified for the matchplay stages of The Amateur Championship, which is being held this week in Ireland over The Island and Portmarnock courses.
A three over par 75 on the opening day at Portmarnock put Walker on the edge of the qualification in 64th place but a second round of 70, one under par, at The Island gave him a two over par total for 36 holes of 145 and moved him up to 36th place.
The other Scots to qualify were:-
3rd - Sandy Scott (Nairn) 140 (71/69)
22nd - Euan McIntosh (Turnhouse) 144 (76/68)
23rd - Connor McKinney (Joondalup) 144 (74/70)
Two other Ayrshire players were in the field but failed to qualify for the matchplay stages, missing the cut which fell at 147 (+4).
Stuart Easton (Irvine) had rounds of 91 and 73 for a total of 154 whilst Jim Johnston (Ayr Belleisle) posted rounds of 80 and 76 for a 156 total.
In the round of 64, Euan Walker faces Eanna Griffin from Waterford, Ireland, teeing off at 1143 on Wednesday morning, 19th June.
