SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Three Ayrshire players through to last 32

 With all the second and third round matches completed on Wednesday, Ayrshire have just three players remaining in the last 32 in the Scottish Amateur Championship at Royal Dornoch.
In the second round matches scheduled to be played on Wednesday morning, four of the eight Ayrshire players bowed out with the remaining four securing a third round tie in the afternoon.
David Wilson (Troon Welbeck) lost to Lewis Mutch (Duff House Royal) by 5 & 3, David Strachan (Turnberry) lost on the final green, by one hole, to Grant Forrest (Craigielaw) whilst Craig Telfer (Prestwick St Cuthbert) went down to Connor Neil (Blairgowrie) by the same margin. Keith Hamilton (Ayr Belleisle) lost out by 3 & 2 to Gordon Munro (Fraserburgh).
US college student Ciar Porciani (Ayr Belleisle) had a 3 & 2 win over Callum Hill (Tantallon) to go through whilst Stuart Robin (Prestwick St Nicholas) beat Stuart Graham (Blairgowrie) by the same margin.
Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) secured his place in round 3 with a 4 & 3 win over Allan McDonald (Crow Wood) whilst number 3 seed Jack McDonald (Kilmarnock Barassie) had a comfortable 7 & 6 win over Richard Johnston (Glenbervie).

Charlie Macneal
In the afternoon third round matches, former Ayrshire Boys Champion and current US college student Charlie Macneal (Troon Welbeck) was the first Ayrshire player into the last 32 after a 2 & 1 win over Chris Robb (Meldrum House). In the fourth round on Thursday morning Macneal will play number one seed Graeme Robertson (Glenbervie).

Macneal's clubmate Marc Smith bowed out in round three, losing by 2 & 1 to Scott Crichton (Aberdour). Also making an exit in round 3 was Ciar Porciani (Ayr Belleisle) who lost 4 & 3 to Alexander Culvetwell (Dunbar).

Stuart Robin
Former professional and reinstated amateur Stuart Robin (Prestwick St Nicholas) secured his place in round four with a 3 & 2 win over Andrew Davidson (Charleton) and now faces Richard Docherty (Bearsden) in the last 32.

Michael Smyth

Jack McDonald (Kilmarnock Barassie) faced a stiff terst in round 3 against the newly crowned Scottish Boys Strokeplay Champion Greig Marchbank (Dumfries & County) and it was Marchbank that took the honours, knocking out third seed McDonald by one hole.

Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) completed the trio of fourth round participants from Ayrshire with a 4 & 3 victory over Jeff Wright (Forres) on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning Smyth continued his title bid with a fourth round match against Fraser Moore (Glenbervie).

The fourth and fifth round matches are scheduled for completion on Thursday, leaving eight players to contest the quarter and semi finals on Friday, with the 36 hole final scheduled for Saturday.
