AYRSHIRE JUNIOR ORDER OF MERIT - Outstanding week fires Telfer to brink of title

An outstanding week which saw him win three events in three days has propelled Greg Telfer (Prestwick St Cuthbert) to the top of the Ayrshire Junior Order Of Merit standings, leaving him on the brink of securing the title.

After winning the Tom Lehman Trophy competition at Troon on Tuesday last week, Telfer went on to play his first round match in the Ayrshire Matchplay Championship that evening at Prestwick. A semi final in the matchplay followed on Wednesday evening and on Thursday Telfer won the Belleisle Boys Open at Ayr Seafiled in the morning before securing the County matchplay title the same evening at Prestwick.

The points earned in these three events have pushed Telfer well clear in the race for the title.

The results of two events played recently have still to be added. These are the Ardeer Boys Open and the Ballochmyle Boys Open.

The only remaining counting events are the Annanhill Boys Open which is scheduled for Tuesday 14th August and the Boys Amateur Championship which takes place from 14th to 19th August.
