Despite 4 of the 8 matches going to the last green Ayrshire only managed to
secure 1.5 points on the 18th.
Stuart Easton managed to a win a very tight match on the last after being 1 down at both the 8th and 13th holes.
After holing a good putt at 8 for 3 to go 1 up, Jack Thomas lost the 18th in
bizarre circumstances after his opponent ran through a bunker with his tee shot
and over the burn with his approach. Murray McCrone won 5 holes in a row from the 3rd
to set up a comfortable win
Shaun Hedger was always under
pressure, being 5 down after 8 but got it back to only 3 after 13 before his comeback stalled and his opponent closed out the game.
Callum Beveridge, who was 2 down with 5 to play, hit a very good
2nd to 18 with wood to halve the match, winning the hole with a 4.
Callum Gorrie
was 5 down after 8 but fought back to have a putt on the last to win his game, after a very good effort
in the back nine.
Darryl Lynch, on his debut, was 1 down at 8 but was unable to
make any further progress, losing 5&3.
Greg Telfer, playing Lanarkshire's best
player and a Bothwell Castle member found himself 3 down after 7 despite being only 1
over par and was always up against it throughout his match.
Despite the loss
Ayrshire can still win the league with wins in the remaining 2 matches against
Glasgow and Dunbartonshire.
