Ayrshire has one representative still in the Scottish Seniors Matchplay Championship at the semi final stage on Friday after Richard Gray (Irvine) beat the defending champion Ian Brotherston (Dumfries and County) at the 4th extra hole in their quarter final clash on Thursday afternoon at West Kilbride.
In the second round on Thursday morning, Gray beat Ian Gillan (Bishopbriggs) by 3 & 2 to set up a clash with the holder in the last eight.
Ayrshire's other representative still in the matchplay stages on Thursday, County President David Miller, won his second round match in the morning against Bill Erskine (Kilsyth Lennox) at the second extra hole but bowed out on Thursday afternoon to a 2 & 1 defeat by Ian Taylor (Royal Burgess).
In the semi final on Friday morning, Richard Gray will play Ian Taylor for a place in the final.
