CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY - Five more through to last sixteen

Five more players have secured their places in the last sixteen of the 2022 Ayrshire Champion of Champions Trophy competition recently.

Five time winner Tommy McInally (Loudoun) had a 4 & 3 win over Darren Mallinson (Irvine), over the Irvine (Bogside) links to secure a home tie in the last sixteen against Marc McLelland (Girvan), who had a 2 hole away victory over Rory Acheson (Routenburn) in their second round clash..

Adam Sweeney (Prestwick St Cuthbert) travelled ' Doon The Watter' to face Tom Mitchell (Shiskine) but the trip to the Isle of Arran was well worthwhile when he returned with a 2 & 1 victory to progress to the last sixteen, where he faces another away tie, against Blair Morton (Royal Troon).

Also through is Blair Taylor (Rowallan Castle), courtesy of a 6 & 5 win at home against Craig Menzies (Muirkirk). Taylor will be at home to Aidan Long (Prestwick Centre) or Andrew Carroll (Drongan) in round three.

At the foot of the draw, 2019 winner Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) had a 6 & 4 win over Nicholas Tindall (Tam O Shanter) at Ballochmyle, and now faces a trip to play either Sandy Buchanan (Prestwick St Nicholas) or David Pratt (Annanhill) in the last sixteen.

The nine remaining second round ties are due to be completed by the 15th of May.
