AYRSHIRE HANDICAP LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - Kilmarnock Barassie are first club confirmed through to the knockout stages

The chase for the two qualifying places in each of the four sections of the Ayrshire handicap League competition is intensifying, with only a few fixtures remaining to be completed.

In SECTION A, Rowallan Castle and Ballochmyle are in pole position to claim the qualifying spots.
A 5 – 1 win at home to Auchenharvie 88 in their latest tie moved Rowallan Castle ahead of Ballochmyle in the table.

Ayr Dalmilling kept their qualification hopes alive with a 3.5 – 2.5 win away to Ayr Belleisle, though they would need to win their final two games, home and away to Prestwick St Cuthbert, and hope that Ballochmyle slipped up in their final fixture.

Similarly, after a 3 – 3 draw between Auchenharvie and Prestwick St Cuthbert, both those clubs need to win all their remaining matches and hope other results go their way in order to claim a qualifying place.

Alton completed their campaign with a 4 - 2 home win over Ayr Belleisle in their final sectional match.

Both Rowallan Castle and Ballochmyle have one match remaining to be played and victory for the two clubs would ensure they qualified for the knockout stages. In their final fixture Ballochmyle travel to Ayr Belleisle whilst Rowallan Castle visit Prestwick St Cuthbert.

In SECTION D, Redburn sit on top of the table, having completed their fixtures and must now wait on the outcome of outstanding fixtures to see if they will qualify for the knockout stages.

Moorpark boosted their qualification hopes with a 6 – 0 home win over Troon Portland in their last match, and a draw in their final fixture at Beith would ensure them one of the two qualifying places.

In the other tie played last week, Troon Portland dented Beith’s qualifying hopes with a 3.5 – 2.5 win at Troon, though with just a home match against Loudoun still to play, the Portland team will fall just short of the second qualifying spot.

Despite a 5 – 1 home win over Loudoun, West Kilbride, with two fixtures remaining, will not be able to secure one of the qualifying spots this year.
