Scotland just lost out in the Girl’s Home Internationals title at
Conwyn GC, Wales, on Friday 5th August, losing their final match to Ireland
by 5 – 4.
Scotland needed a draw with Ireland to take the series, and things
looked good after the morning foursomes when Scotland lead by 2 – 1.
Hazel McGarvie (Troon Ladies) kept up her 100% winning partnership
with Jillian Farrell, winning on the final green to give Scotland the edge
after the other two foursomes ties had been shared.

Scotland finished runners up to Ireland, who won the title for the
first time, whilst England finished in third place following their last day 6.5
– 2.5 victory over Wales.
Hazel McGarvie had an outstanding tournament, recording a perfect
six wins from six over the three match series.
In the Woman’s Home Internationals, played at the same venue,
Scotland finished on a high after their opening two defeats, beating Ireland by
5 – 4 in their final match.
Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) won her closing singles by 3 & 2
to help Scotland to a win.
England took the title following a 7 – 2 win over Wales on the final
day, with Ireland finishing second, Wales third and Scotland in fourth place.
