John Sloan |
In the semi final, John Sloan faced Gary Steele (Brunston Castle) and stormed to a commanding lead early in the match, en route to a 7 & 6 victory.
Sloan set the standard at the opening hole with a winning birdie three, and a run of three successive dropped shots by Steele from the third hole allowed Sloan to win all three holes with pars and move four holes ahead after five.
a concession from Steele at the ninth gave Sloan another hole and the players turned for home with Sloan four holes ahead.
Things got no better over the opening holes of the inward half for Steele and a bogey - double bogey start back allowed Sloan to gain another two holes and go six up, and a concession from Steele at the twelfth hole gave Sloan another hole and victory by 7 & 6.
Paul Denim |
In the other semi final between Paul Denim (Loudoun) and Sandy Riddell (Skelmorlie) the opening holes were a little scrappy but by the turn, Denim had forged a three hole advantage, and the match continued in this pattern in the closing holes with Denim winning the 11th, 12th and 13th holes, to round off a 5 & 4 win.
The final between Sloan and Denim will take place on Friday 12th August with a 5.00 p.m. tee time.
