Of the eight Ayrshire players in action at Monifieth on Monday, 1st April, in the 2013 Scottish Boys Championship, six successfully negotiated the first hurdle to book their places in round 2.
In the first match to tee of in this years event, Euan Henderson (Kilmarnock Barassie) lost out to Fraser Christie (Craigmillar Park), whilst the other Ayrshire player making an early exit was Jordan Fraser (Ayr Belleisle) who lost out by 6 & 5 to Gary Brownlee (Tantallon)
Murray McCrone (Troon Welbeck) was the first Ayrshire player to successfully progress, beating Neil McArthur (Bishopbriggs) by 4 & 3 to set up a second round tie on Tuesday afternoon with Josh Halliday (Stonehaven)
One f the biggest wins of the day was recorded by Stuart Easton (Irvine) who won 8 & 7 against Jack Gater (Dunblane New). Easton now faces Robert Watson (Muckhart) in round 2.
Elliot Masterson (Kilmarnock Barassie) won his match against Jack Currie (Greenock) by 3 & 2 and now plays Zack Bedford (St Andrews New) whilst Louis Murray (Troon Welbeck) had a 5 & 4 win over Mark Hughes (Hilton Park), and now faces Connar Cook (Caird Park) in Tuesday's last scheduled match.
Blair Gavin (Kilmarnock Barassie) had a 5 & 3 win over James Yarnell (Glenbervie) to set up a second round match with Calum Wilson (Kilspindie) in the first scheduled tie on Wednesday morning.
The last Ayrshire player in action on Monday was boys internationalist Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) who safely progressed to round two courtesy of a 6 & 5 win over Callum Bruce (Duff House Royal). Walker now faces Brandon Burgess (Dumfries & Galloway) in round 2 on Wednesday morning.
The remaining first round matches and some second round ties are due to be completed on Tuesday.
