2013 Ayrshire Ladies' County Champion Connie Jaffrey |
Jaffrey, a member of the Scotland training squad, won the title for the first time after beating Audrey Thomson (Loudoun) 4 & 3 in the final.
In the Wednesday morning semi finals, Jaffrey beat clubmate Hazel McGarvie 5 & 4 whilst Audrey Thomson knocked out the top qualifier, Emma Hale (Troon Ladies) with a 2 & 1 win.

In the final, Jaffrey raced into the lead, going two up after three holes before Thomson birdied the fourth hole to reduce the deficit to one. Jaffrey however birdied the fifth and also took the sixth to establish a three hole advantage after six holes, which she extended to four holes following a birdie two at the eighth.
Thomson showed her mettle however, bringing herself back into the match by winning the ninth and following that with a birdie at the eleventh to reduce the deficit to two holes.

A good half in fours at the twelfth stemmed the tide for Jaffrey and she built on this to take the 13th and 14th to re establish her four hole lead.
At the fifteenth hole, Jaffrey recorded another par four to halve the hole and give her the county title with a 4 & 3 win.
Pauline Patrick, the ladies captain at Irvine GC, presented prizes to the successful players at the conclusion of the championship and handed over the County Championship Trophy to the new champion, Connie Jaffrey.
