CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY - Second round line up confirmed

The line up for the second round of the 2013 Ayrshire Champion OF Champions Trophy competition has been confirmed, with the remaining first round matches being completed over the weekend.

Former Ayrshire Matchplay title holder Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) had a 2 & 1 home win over Thomas Smith (Wallacetown) to set up an intriguing second round match away from home against Scott Brown (Turnberry).

George Robertson (Irvine Ravenspark) will be at home to Shaun Ryan (Ayr Dalmilling) in round 2 after Ryan beat Steven Bolland (Tam O Shanter) on the final green in their first round tie at Dalmilling.

Andrew Armstrong (Moorpark) won by 2 holes away from home against John McCaig (Ayr Seafirld) and now faces a home match in round two against Robert Ferguson (Troon Welbeck), who was a 3 & 2 winner over Craig Anderson (Ayr Carrick) in round one.

Gary Jordan (Crosshouse) will be at home to Craig Robertson (Abbotsford) in round two, after Robertson beat Jim Reid (North Beach) by 4 & 3 to progress.

David Cook (Fenwick) had a two hole victory on his visit to meet Frank Murdoch (Brunston Castle) and is now at home to Andrew Jess (Ayr Belleisle) who had a walkover against Sandy Riddell (Skelmorlie).

Stuart Robin (Prestwick St Nicholas) won his home tie in round one against Brain Gray (Beith) by 6 & 5 and now has a home match against Alan McLean (Kilbirnie Place) in round two, whilst Ian Fraser (Troon St Meddans) is at home to Gary Steele (Maybole) in the second round after Steele beat Kieran Reid (Alton) by 2 & 1 in round one.

Derek Ballantyne (Ardeer) had a notable first round win at home, by 3 & 2, over Gary Bryden (Turnberry Staff) to set up a home match in round two against Ian Girvan (Muirkirk).

The two remaining first round ties saw George McKay (West Kilbride) return from his trip to face Gavin Stuart (Braehead) with a one hole victory whilst Ian McKenzie (Largs Routenburn) had a 4 & 2 home win over Seamus Connor (Malletsheugh). McKay now plays host to Connor in the second round.

All second round ties must be played by Sunday 19th May.
