WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY UNDER 18 LEAGUE - Debut wins for Finlay Watt and Quintin Dunlop as Ayrshire defeat Dumbartonshire at Ayr Seafield

There were debut wins for Finlay Watt (West Kilbride) and Quintin Dunlop (Troon Welbeck) as Ayrshire won their latest fixture in the West of Scotland Under 18 Inter County League, for the Wishart Trophy, on Sunday the 21st of August against Dumbartonshire at Ayr Seafield.

With the Dumbartonshire side short handed by one, due to a late call off, Ayrshire started with a one point advantage, with Ryan Kennedy (Irvine) sitting out the match as a result.

Oliver Long (Kilmarnock Barassie) and Liam Moran (Irvine) got the team off to a great start with victory in the first two Under 16 ties, and a 5 & 4 win by Quintin Dunlop (Troon Welbeck) on his debut for the county side ensured at least a 4 - 4 draw at worst for the home team.

Finlay Watt (West Kilbride), who was also representing the county side for the first time, took a decisive one hole lead at the sixteenth in his tie and showed great spirit to half the remaining two holes of his tie for a single hole victory to ensure a win in the match for Ayrshire.

Ayrshire Boys Champion Harvey Broadfoot (Royal Troon) won his tie whilst Jamie Hay (Turnberry) lost by 3 & 2 and jack broadfoot (Troon Welbeck) was unfortunate to lose the final hole of his tie to end all square, as the Ayrshire team recorded a 6.5 - 1.5 victory over their visitors from Dumbartonshire.
