AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Chase for 2022 titles move towards latter stages

The chase for a final place in the AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP is hotting up, after recent results, and with just two fixtures remaining any three of the four teams in Section A can qualify for the final.

In SECTION A, a 4 .5 – 1.5 home win over Prestwick St Nicholas put West Kilbride clear at the top of the section, but defeat for West Kilbride at home to East Ayrshire by 4 – 2, and a 5 – 1 home win for East Ayrshire against Ayr Belleisle leaves the destination of the place in the final in doubt with just two fixtures remaining.

The remaining fixtures see Prestwick St Nicholas hosting Ayr Belleisle whilst East Ayrshire entertain West Kilbride in their final fixture of the campaign.

In SECTION B, Irvine have all but secured their place in the 2022 final, their recent 4 – 2 win at Prestwick St Cuthbert confirming their place at the top of the section.

Prestwick St Cuthbert have home matches against Troon Welbeck and Kilmarnock Barassie still to play, and away fixtures at Troon Welbeck, Irvine and Kilmarnock Barassie.

In the JUNIOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition, the semi finals are due to be completed by the 11th of September.

The semi-final line up is:-

Cameron Shanks (Caprington) Vs. Sam Crozier (West Kilbride)

Jack Broadfoot (Troon Welbeck) Vs. Harvey Broadfoot (Ayrshire Boys Champion)

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT TROPHY competition, Irvine drew 2 – 2 with their visitors from Kilmarnock Barassie in their quarter final clash, and it was the host club that went through to the semi finals by virtue of a 20-6 countback score over the individual ties.

The semi finals of the competition are due to be completed by the 11th of September, and the semi final line up is:-

Prestwick St Nicholas Vs Irvine

West Kilbride Vs. Loudoun or Troon Welbeck

In the WALLACE THORNTON TROPHY competition the semi-finals are also due to be completed by the 11th of September, and the line up is:-

Kilmarnock Barassie Vs Irvine or Prestwick St Nicholas

Troon Welbeck Vs Ayr Belleisle

The finals of all four events will be held at Prestwick St Cuthbert GC in September.
