AYRSHIRE SUMMER LEAGUE - Notable victory by Beith in championship opener

(Report by Sandy Provan)

Beith opened their bid for the 2009 Ayrshire Summer League title with a stunning 6 - 0 home victory over Kilmarnock (Barassie) in League 4.

Lee Jenkins, Beith's Team Captain, commented :-

"Yeah that was a great result for us, I think we got lucky in our timing of the game as Barassie had a few of their team regulars away playing in other events or over in America just now on scholarships so they didn't on paper have their strongest team up with them, but none the less I was delighted at my boys all winning."

Commenting, when asked if this was not a bit of a shock, Stuart Craig (Barassie's Team Captain) said

"Sure was, 2 weeks divot patching and bunker raking for those involved me thinks!!!!!!"

This makes for an interesting return match at Barassie on the 25th May.
