A recently revamped championship at Irvine Golf Club has been added as a counting event for the Doc Thom Ayrshire Order of Merit for the 2026 season.

The strokeplay qualifying event for the Irvine Links Championship was opened to all Ayrshire golfers in 2024, and will become a Doc Thom Ayrshire Order of Merit counting event in 2026, with the long time organiser of the Irvine Links Championshoip, the late Ian R. Lamb, being commemorated, and honoured for his service to the championship, with the strokeplay competitors playing for the Ian R. Lamb Trophy in 2026.
As in the past, the top 16 players who are members of Irvine clubs or resident in Irvine will go forward to contest the irvine Links Championship, though this aspect of the event will not be included for Order of Merit points.
The 2026 Ian R. Lamb Trophy competition will be held at Irvine Golf Club on Sunday 26th July, and entry details will be available through the organisers at the club in due course.
