With Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) in the side, Scotland
finished in third place in the 2019 Senior Men’s Home International series,
played at Alnmouth Golf Club in England from 17th to 19th
September.
Scotland Started the championship well with a 5.5 – 3.5
victory over wales in their opening fixture.
Paul Moultrie sat out the morning foursomes against wales
but earned a half point against Nigel evans in the afternoon singles.
On the second day Scotland faced Ireland but, after only
gaining a half point in the three morning foursomes, lost out by 6 – 3 overall.
Paul Moultrie was paired with Robert Smith in the morning
foursomes, losing out to John Mitchell & Barry O’Leary by 4&3, but
secured a second successive half point in the singles, playing in the anchor
tie against Karl Bornemann.
On the final day Scotland played the eventual winners,
England and succeeded in stopping a third successive win for the hosts,
eventually drawing the match 4.5 – 4.5.
Paul Moultrie again teamed up with Robert Smith in the
morning foursomes, earning a half point against Paul Wharton & Richard
Norton, but in the afternoon singles he was soundly beaten 6&5 by Rich
Jones.
