An urgent appeal has been issued via club secretaries to women golfers who are members of the 67 Ayrshire clubs affiliated to The Ayrshire Golf Association to support the 2026 Ayrshire Women's Strokeplay Championship and enter the competition over the next couple of weeks.
Golfers in Ayrshire will be aware that The Ayrshire Golf Assocition have been working hard in recent seasons to provide competitive opportunities at a county level for women members of member clubs.
One of the events established is the Ayrshire Women's Strokeplay Championship which offers trophies on both a scratch and handicap basis along with substantial voucher prizes and some nearest the hole prizes.
The entry fee for the event is just £10 and the comnpetition is open to any women or girl member of an of the 67 Ayrshire Golf Association affiliated clubs throughout the county.
The 2026 Ayrshire Women's Strokeplay Championship is scheduled to take place at Annanhill golf course in Kilmarnock on Sunday the 7th of June.
Unfortunately to date The Association we have just 11 entries for the event, and if the entry cannot be increased by a significant number over the next fortnight then The Association may need to consider whether the event can go ahead or not.
The Association will do everything they can to ensure that the championship goes ahead, as any cancellation would be a backward step in the push to provide more open and available opportunities for women members of our member clubs at an area level, and consequently The Association is seeeking players assistance to consider entering the event and boosting the entry numbers over the next few days.
Entries can be submitted by email by completing the attached entry form available from club secretaries or via the link below and making payment by bank transfer, or can also be made on line via the Scottish Golf app, as per the instructions included on the championship poster below.
The Association would welcome any assistance from women members of member clubs in supprting this event to ensure that the championship takes place this year and continues to develop the vision of wider participation opportunities for women golfers in Ayrshire.
