AYRSHIRE BOY'S MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Mason Chisholm takes 2026 title

is the 2026 Ayrshire Boy's Matchplay Champion following victory in the final at Prestwick Golf Club on Thursday the 13th of August.

In the final Mason played Finlay Watt (West Kilbride) in a match which was played in perfect, war, conditions.

Mason took the early initiative and led by two holes after five before boosting his lead to four holes with successive birdie three at the sixth and seventh. 

Finlay pulled one back with a winning par four at the eighth and when the nonth was halved in par fours the players turned for home with Mason leading by threee holes.

The players matched each other at the tenth and eleventh before Finlaytook the twelfth with a par five to reduce the defecit to just two holes with six to play.

Despite the pressure, Mason restored his three hole advantage by winning the thirteenth and with the following two holes halved in par fours, Mason went dormie three in the match.

The sixteenth proved to be the final hole of the match, a winning birdie three giving Mason the 2026 Ayrshire Boy's Matchplay Championship tite with a 4&2 final victory.

At the conclusion of the final Ayrshire Golf Association Vice President William Fleming (Ballochmyle) presented vouchers to both finalists before handing over the trophy and commemorative medal to the 2026 champion, Mason Chisholm.
