THE AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - 2022 competitions under way

All the Ayrshire Junior Golf league competitions for 2022 are under way, with results posted in each event recently.

In the LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, Section A has still to get under way, with no results reported to date. In Section B, Troon Welbeck have opened their title challenge with a 5 – 1 home win over Kilmarnock Barassie and a 3 – 3 draw in the corresponding fixture away from home. In the other match played recently in the section, Irvine recorded a narrow 3.5 – 2.5 home win over Troon Welbeck.

In the JUNIOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition, Ayrshire Boys Champion Harvey Broadfoot won his first round match against Max Barclay (Ayr Belleisle) and now plays Dylan cairns (Prestwick St Nicholas) in the second round.

Jack Broadfoot (Troon Welbeck) is through to the semi finals after Irvine GC scratched from the competition due to the ineligibility of their nominated representative.

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT TROPHY competition, Irvine won their first round match away to Prestwick St Cuthbert by 4 – 0 and will be at home to Kilmarnock Barassie in the second round, whilst West Kilbride booked their place in the semi finals with a 4 – 0 home win in their second round tie against Ayr Belleisle.

In the WALLACE THORNTON TROPHY, West Kilbride had a 2.5 – 1.5 win away to Ayr Belleisle in the first leg of their tie, as they bid to book a spot in the semi finals of the competition this season.
