The 2019 Ayrshire Matchplay Championship, featuring the top sixteen available qualifiers from the Strokeplay Championship, takes place at Irvine Golf Club, Bogside, Irvine from Monday 6th to Thursday 9th May.
Defending champion and the new Ayrshire Strokeplay Champion Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) is the leading qualifier in the quality field, which features three former winners in the 2009 champion Scott Brown (Prestwick St Cuthbert), Tommy Mcinally (Loudoun) who won in 2006 and John Shanks (Irvine) who took the title in 2016.
The 2018 runner up Shaun Hedger (West Kilbride), who lost out to Michael Smyth 12 months ago in the final at Rowallan Castle, is again in the sixteen strong field this year.
The first round ties, which commence from 5.00 p.m. on Monday 6th May, are:-
