SCOTTISH MID AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Ayrshire duo in semi finals

The two Ayrshire players who won through to the matchplay stages of the 2010 Scottish Mid Amateur Championship, being played from 12 to 14 June at The East Renfrewshire Golf Club, have both won a place in the semi finals after the matchplay stages commenced on Sunday.

Former Ayrshire Matchplay title holder Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) had a 4 & 3 forst round win over Garry Duncan (Carnoustie Caledonia) and followed on in the afternoon to record a one hole win over Ben Renfrew (Wynyard) to book a place in the semi final.

In the semi final on Monday morning Hamilton will face Scott Ritchie (New Zealand) for a place in the final.

The other Ayrshire player in the semi finals is former Ayrshire Champion Of Champions title holder Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon).

A finalist in the last British Mid Amateur Championship in 2007, Moultrie beat Gordon Young of the host club by 4 & 3 in the first round of the matchplay and followed that with a 2 & 1 win over Michael Grunwell (Powfoot) in the quarter finals.

In Monday's semi final Paul Moultrie faces former Amateur Champion Craig Watson of the host club.
