NOEL STURROCK - Former Seniors champion passes away

Ayrshire has lost a national champion with the passing of Noel Sturrock on 4th June after a long illness.

A member of Prestwick and Royal Troon golf clubs, Noel was twice a winner of the Scottish Seniors Championship, winning it on both occasions over the Killermont course of the Glasgow Golf Club.

In 1981 Noel shared the title with fellow Royal Troon members Ian Harris and Dr. Jimmy Hastings with a score of 146 over two rounds, and in 1985 playing out of Prestwick he won the title again on his own with a two round score of 143.
The following year, 1986, Noel won the British Open Seniors' Championship at Panmure, to add to his honours.

Our sympathies go to his wife Agnes, daughter Fiona and all the family at this time.
