FIRE FIGHTERS CHARITY - Innaugural Scottish Golf Day appeal

Jan Mattison from Ayr Fire Station is appealing for local golfers to support the innaugural Scottish Charity Golf Day for the Fire Fighters Charity in September this year.

Jan explains :-

" I am organising the first ever Scotland Charity Golf Day for The Fire Fighters Charity, and would be grateful if you could possibly circulate details to your members or member clubs. We are holding this at Spey Valley Course in Aviemore on 14th September 2010, and we are being supported in the event by the Highlands & Islands Fire Service.

The cost will be £400 for a team of 4 - this will include Breakfast Roll/Coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf and competition, ending with 3 course meal with glass of wine and presentation. Amazing value for a charity day, I am sure you will agree. We have also been offered excellent overnight accommodation rates by Macdonald Resort Hotels for the 13th and 14th September ".

About the charity, Jan explains :_

" The Fire Fighters Charity helps fire fighters when they need it most, providing vital support services for all UK fire fighters. With three specialist centres across the UK, The Fire Fighters Charity provides fire fighters with the help they need to recover from injury, surgery or illness, so they can get back to their job of saving lives.

It costs over £9 million every year to keep the Charity running, and with no government funding, we are completely reliant upon donations and fundraising, so the support of the Fire Service Community and the general public is absolutely vital ".

Jan continued :-
" As an avid golfer myself, I am keen to establish The Fire Fighters Charity Scottish Golf Day as an annual event on our calendar - so really need this to be a success, and any support that can be given locally will be most appreciated.

As well as prospective competitors in the golf day itself, jan is hoping to attract the support of  local clubs, particularly to provide prizes of 4-balls at courses in Scotland for fund raising purposes. Any offers of this as a donation would be most welcome.

Further details, and an entry form for the golf day, can be obtained from the Fire Fighters Charity website at
