2009 EVENTS - Ayrshire to host 4 national events next year

Ayrshire will play host to four of the Scottish Golf Union events in 2009.

Top of the list is the Scottish Amateur Championship which will be held at Royal Troon. This will be the fifth time the event has been held at Troon, the last occasion being in 1977 when Alan Brodie won the title.

Othe previous winners at Troon were Irvine Bogside's Jack Cannon (1969), Ronnie Shade (1963)in the first of his five successive title wins, Frank Deighton (1956) and T.M. Burrell (1923).

Ayrshire will also play host to the Boys Under 16 Championship and the Boys Under 14 Championship, which will both be held at Largs, as well as the Scottish Club Championship which will be hosted by Prestwick St. Nicholas.
