AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Competitions under way as holders bow out of Under 16 championship

Fixtures are under way in the variousl Ayrshire Junior Golf League competitions for the 2012 season, with an early surprise in the form of a first round home defeat for the Under 16 Knockout Trophy title holders Kilmarnock (Barassie).

The Barassie team, who took the title at Loudoun last year, had a 2 - 2 draw with their visitors Ayr Belleisle but it was Belleisle who won through to the quarter finals by winning in a sudden death play off.

The other Under 16 Knockout Trophy tie played so far also ended in a 2 - 2 draw, and again it was the visitors, Loudoun Gowf Club, who progressed in the sudden death play off against the hosts Irvine Ravenspark.

The remaining first round ties are due to be completed by 3rd June.

In the Champion Of Champions competition, Louis Murray (Troon Welbeck) beat Andrew davidson (Ballochmyle) at home to progress to the last eight whilst Craig Reid (Irvine Ravenspark) had a one hole victory away from home against Scott Liddle (Prestwick St Nicholas) to go through to the next round.

Again, the remaining first round ties are due to be completed by 3rd June.

Matches in the four League Championship sections will take place from May through to August with section winners progressing to the latter stages thereafter.
